Ever since my dearest boyfriend pointed out that the name Lisa is always just an extra in shows/movies, and never name of the main character, I've become acutely aware of how true this statement is. And yet again I discover this holds true for House of Cards.
Is my name so uninspiring?
But new achievement, some time last week I ran 3km without stopping! Granted, in the last 500m I was going at the pace of a painfully slow jog, but I'm pretty chuffed. Although the few runs a did since that day I still haven't managed to break the 2.5km straight.
I'm finding my left leg starts getting knee pain and shin splints at the 2km mark and I'm not sure what I can do about this.
I also have been religiously stretching after running, and I think it's dramatically improving my flexibility. And by improving, I mean just bringing it back to what it used to be a few years ago.
Anyhow, I'm going to get ready for bed, because it seems to take me hours...
Love Lisa.

Swifty Babe
Hold up, I never blogged about BUYING A CAR?! Well secrets out readers, I got me a set of wheeels at the end of January this year. So I guess there's a life goal I've achieved.
It did, by all means, make a large dent in my bank account. And by dent I mean, large, gaping blackhole.
Without further ado, I present to you my Swifty:

Isn't she a looker. And as I've taken such good care of her beautiful exterior I was devastated when scratched (mangled) her rims. Boo.
Note to self though, I need to vacuum, oops.
Love Lisa.

Final Note For The Week
Mum told me to eat some watermelon because she said it was really good today.
So I ate some, and pretty much within minutes my throat started feeling itchy. And just like with the cantaloupe my first thought was that 'oh no, I'm getting sick again', but no its definitely a different sensation to a sore throat.
Lo and behold, I am now allergic to pollen, cats, cantaloupe & watermelon.
What's next?
Love Lisa.

This Week
I think I've had one of the most stressful and productive weeks in a long time.
I cram studied like you wouldn't believe for a test on Tuesday and I ended up getting 84% on it, I don't want to brag but I'm pretty proud of myself.
One Wednesday I caught up with Tina, who did biomed as well and in our final year we both majored in pharmacology so we were quite close. But as I have issues with maintaining regular contact with friends, I haven't seen her in a good 10 or more months. Oops. But we had brunch at Seven Seeds near uni, it was quite good. I ordered a waffle with blood plum chutney and marscapone mousse.
I also saw my first GP patient on Thursday and even though I didn't finish everything on time, it went much better than I expected. I need to believe in myself more, especially when it comes to the dental exam, I feel so uncertain about everything I see, yet I got almost everything charted correctly. I just missed 2 carious lesions on the lower 8s (i.e. the wisdom teeth). But just my luck, my patient can never my my session time in the future so I have to transfer him on to another student.
Unfortunately the next day I realised I lost my uni/hospital lanyard. Which also had my uni student id and locker key on it. I thought for sure it would turn up but no dice for now.
Yesterday I attended the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) and Cake Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds. This was organised by some of my other biomed friends. As you'd expect, I had way too much caffeine for one day, but it was a fun experience. I ate so many free food samples, including 2 scones, 3 types of museli and a yoghurt. Oh and I went with Julia, Lisa, Mel, Sophie and Michelle. Most of whom I also hadn't seen for about a year >_>
Michelle's friend had a stall at the cake expo, and also 3 cakes that were in the competition, and her cakes were by far the standouts for each category. I voted for hers without even realising they were all by the same person.
After the expo I had about 2 hours to kill before dinner, so I went to State library, and oh how that brought back Year 12 memories. I managed to do some readings for my perio presentation this week. Then I headed to Bourke St, where we had an early birthday dinner for Jenny. We went to Izakaya Hachibeh, it was alright, my donburi had way too much rice and not enough pork. The pork was delicious though. Of course I couldn't say no to dessert, we had crepes and waffles at Passionflower.
Then I headed over to Daniel's where I pretty much KO'd around 12. The last thing I remember was him trying to show me something and then saying I'm way to tired and then I drifted off into sleep land. Had work this morning as well and that was 100% a ghost town. After which, Faith wanted to catch up and we had lunch at Piatella. I had a chicken burger, pretty decent for $14, although it was a little on the dry side. And yet again, we shared a delicious strawberry and banana crepe.
Now I'm at home and back to studying. I think I've achieved (and eaten) more this week than I normally do in a month. It feels good but I feel like I need an extra day to recover.
Oh oh, side note, I can now run 2.5km (on a treadmill) without a break, and for me that is such an improvement, at the beginning of the year I was still running only 1-1.5km before my heart felt like it was going to give out. It does take me around 17-18 minutes. The last few times I ran 2.5km my HR was only at the low 190s, again an improvement of when my HR would go over 205 bpm, which I'm sure is verging on causing damage.
And on a bad note, I scratched my rims on 2 separate occasions, the first time hurt my soul because I've been so careful parking on the road so far. The second time just pushed me over the edge because I can't believe I made the same mistake 1 day later and the damage was much more significant. This is why I can't own nice things.
Anywhoo, back to study for me. Hope you've all had a wonderful week.
Love Lisa.
