Cheers to the New Year

Crazy that a whole year has passed by already. And every year we promise ourselves to make the most of the next. Dejavu huh? Or at least that's what I do, but I'm sure this isn't an anomaly.

I've finished my first year of uni and only 2 more years til I graduate! I turned 19, but I feel like a 17 year old because I do not feel mature enough to be called an adult. If I wasn't so tired I would start rambling about my thoughts on the concept of time and how we measure it but I had a sleepless night and some terrifying dreams that took all my willpower to wake up from.

And maybe every year is the same, yet I'm almost certain that my own emotions have never been so erratic as they have been towards the end of the year. 2011 huh, I didnt think about it all year but I've lived through the 90s and now the..2010's haha what a shitty name for an era. Okay I will now attempt to minimise my ranting but I honestly wonder what 2000-2010 will be remembered for, will people in 2070 think to themselves, I wish I lived in the 2010s, they had such awesome fashion? The thought of it amuses me.

[I do wish I was this age in another era, I always thought it would be the 80s but now watching Friends, I wouldn't mind going back 2 decades.]

So I couple of things I will do next year:
  • Cut my hair (not dramatically but this year I've barely cut a cm off)
  • Start taking photos of everything and anything again
  • Be more active generally
  • Make an effort with my appearance

Enough about me. Certain incidents (that I will elaborate on next year) made me really really realise how fragile life is, cliché I know, so stay safe readers and have an amazing new years eve!

PS. Look look, I finally did well with maximising our internet usage! I'm strangely proud.

NOTW: Festive Nails #2

Ooh my bad I forgot to even take proper pictures of my nails before they chipped like crazy, but here's the one off my phone. If you follow me on twitter you would have seen already. Speaking of which, follow me on twitter! If you have twitter that is, I actually update fairly often. I was quite proud of this creation.

My nails have been chopped down quite a bit since that photo was taken, they were getting annoyingly long not to mention the right index finger started to break the tiniest bit into my nail bed so I cut it pretty short.

Boxing Day

This year I went with Sylvia to the city at 4am on the 26th. I attempted to sleep from 12-2am but I think I woke up 3 or 4 times in those 2 hours so it was barely a nap. Then I was off to pick up Sylvia from her house.
The crowds were disappointing this year, to say the least, but never fear it was still fun for us. Perhaps due to the storms just hours before, or perhaps there was a general lack of enthusiasm this year.
Initially we saw maybe 10 people or less in front of Myer and over 100 outside of David Jones, so we thought something exciting must be going down at David Jones, but after some condescending instructions from a security guard we decided to join in on the fun outside Myer.
The camera crews didn't arrive until just before 5.

Standing outside David Jones

Sitting outside Myer.

Some initial scouting of myer revealed that the bargains weren't really bargains at all. The few things that did catch my eye were still bloody expensive.
We took a break at Brunetti's and giggled over the 'faggotino' (aka a chocolate croissant), which we later bought and ate. Jenny met up with us soon after but her shift started at 7am so she had to leave.

Then drove Sylvia home and was off to Chadstone, was only there for a short while with Daniel, and by the time I was there all the good stuff (at least in my size) was gone :( Boohoo. Next year I'm going to go to chaddy in the morning. Eventually bought a set of Calvin Klein underwear, truly the most comfortable ones I own to this day.

That day I came to the sad realisation that I love love love heels, yet I never wear them as I am just that lazy. I own 5 pairs that are fairly high, which isn't that many for most girls, but for someone who wears them a couple of times a year they're going to waste. Ugh. See my excuse is that I don't go clubbing, I don't go anywhere that requires me to be dressed up, and I wouldn't wear heels more than 8cm high on a casual day because I like to be comfortable.

Next post: Christmas presents and most likely an unnecessary rant about life.

Merry Christmas

Nothing exciting to talk about really, just that I've become increasingly aware of the fact that I no longer see my camera as as important part of me. It's becoming a dead weight and the realisation is ruining my day. I used to be able to look at anything and feel a desperate urgency to take a photo of it, to preserve that memory forever. Or even there were days where I felt like creating tragic conceptual self portraits, they were never amazing but it felt great having an outlet to express myself. What happened to me?

I need to find that source of inspiration again. I know I can I just don't know how it will happen yet.
Tomorrow probably isn't the best day to do it, but I'll take Diego out with me.

The Holiday Season Thus Far

I don't know what to think of this Christmas, it has been easily the least festive in my family but I've never wanted a white christmas and to go to the US to celebrate as much as I do right now.

And how, you might wonder, has this Christmas been so terrible? My parents refused to put up the Christmas tree...call me childish but it made me incredibly sad. Even more so because there was no reason other than the fact that they said it was 1. too time consuming 2. we didn't have presents this year (i'll come back to this) and 3. we didn't have enough room...

Okay point 1 and 3 is jsut ridiculous, sure we don't have the largest living area but the space in it has been the same for the past oh..16 years? So if we could put it up last year what's stopping us this year. And as for the time consuming part I've put up the tree solo for years so I don't know how that can be a reason. Yes we don't have any presents this year, but this I don't care about as much, or at all even, because that's not that point of Christmas to me. At all.

Who said you can't have a tree without presents under it. Oh wait, Daniel and his mum have given me presents D: And its moments like these where I feel like Snowball (from the Simpsons) and her second family that fattens her up, I've already told Daniel about this analogy.

Alright, I suppose I was being dramatic, Christmas hasn't been terrible, it just hasn't been anything special in particular. At least I got to help decorate Daniel's tree :3

Merry Christmas readers, hope Santa gets you something nice.

Review: Revlon Lip Butters - Peach Parfait & Tutti Fruitti

Yayayay look what arrived in the mail last week! :D

The packaging has a quilted pattern embossed into it, reminiscent of the original Colourburst lipsticks.
I think there are about a total of 20 shades from what I've read.

Forewarning, I've never cropped the picture to just my lips but the rest of my face looked horrendous. Prepare yourself for close ups of my my slightly awkward, lopsided smile.

My naked lips, this is why I never realised the dark patch on my lip was a freckle, the creases in my lip kinda mix in with it.

Tutti Fruitti
A sheer orange-coral, I expected a brighter orange to be honest but I really love this colour. Very summery and bright but not overtly so. The colour is definitely build-able to a medium coverage lipstick but not opaque.

Peach Parfait
Just like all the reviews, this is the perfect every day pink for my lips, this could complement any look.  Similar to tutti fruitti, it has a sheer coverage but build-able. After watching hollyanaeree's review I was scared that this would feel gritty due to the shimmer but I'm happy to say that this feels smooth and comfortable to wear.

Overall
These did not disappoint and lived up to my expectations after reading and watching countless reviews. Although these are called 'lip butters' I would consider them more of a hybrid between lipsticks and a lip butter, the colour pay off and pigmentation is amazing for something that feels so moisturising.

Of course with that being said, due to the creamy nature of the formula, this is not the most long lasting lip product, at most a few hours. But reapplication is a dream, this really just glides over your lips.

Back to the moisturising side of these, the moment I took peach parfait off my lips, I noticed that they felt so soft and smooth, much more so then before I put any on.

And if you thought I couldn't sing any more praise for these, the scent of these is really attractive..if I can describe a smell like that. It's a sugary, sweet scent and the taste is much better than normal lipsticks that I use.

I would definitely buy more, the only thing stopping me is that I don't think these are even available in Australia yet...or will they ever be? Even if they are I'll bet my money on the fact that one lip butter will retail for in excess of $20.

Christmas Dinner @ Emily's

Rerun of last year's Christmas shenanigan's at Emily's house. It was great catching up with high school friends, even though many I do not see on a regular basis, I still feel comfortable around them. We had a bbq and an assortment of desserts, yum!

Oh and some of my friends like my nails (previous post), which is reassuring because I've gone through days of hating them and thinking it was the worst decision to paint them like that. Well they've chipped pretty badly now (probably not that bad if I asked a normal person). But I've become obsessed with having chip free, smooth nail polish. So my next Christmas nails should be up in a few days.

Makeup and hair for the night (hair looks brown due to me forgetting that i bumped up the power level of the flash)

NOTW: Festive Nails #1

OPI I'm Not Really a Waitress, CG Medallion

Eh, the glitter is layered very sloppily, I'm not happy with it but when you choose to remove your previous mani and redo your nails at 2am, the fumes from the remover, base, 2 different polishes and top coat become overwhelming.

I'll be doing different Christmas nails next week :)

The Family Car Is Out To Get Me

So I'm driving to have a check up with my maxillofacial oral surgeon and right outside his office, I'm trying to turn into the street and BAM the engine stalls. FML. Have you ever had you car stop suddenly in the middle of the road? Especially a busy intersection during peak hour?! Because it's damn scary.
And you know what doesn't help at all, my mum screaming at me that this is all my fault while I'm trying to reignite the engine.
Clap clap mum you've done it again in being supportive.

Also I forgot to note that the only person that gave me the time of their day to come and help me was a truckie (not to be cliche but he had a beard), who was driving a massive truck but even parked to then come out and help me. Thank you so much to him and to everyone else that just motioned angrily and impatiently at me...what did you expect me to do, jesus.

Surgeon said I did have a slight dry socket so I probably was looking at my jaw bone so I say HA to those that didn't believe me!

Currently been powering through Malcolm In The Middle, up to season 7 now.
Here are my nails for last week, never thought I would like turquoise nail polish but there you go. And the brown nail was just because I wanted to test the brown out, I didn't expect this mani to not chip for 7 days without a top coat. But it lasted so I left it on even though it's pretty mismatched.

Strange but last night at 3am, 'Iris' starting playing in my head as I was trying to get to sleep and it made me incredibly sad.

My newest complaint, on and off stomach pains over the past 4 days. Why won't they go away :(

Cut Crease and Hospital Booties

Playing around with my new e.l.f. eyeshadows and brushes. First time attempting a cut crease and it actually worked out a lot easier than expected.

This is from the day of the operation. Giant brown paper bag? What could I love more, I wish I took that bag home. Anyone that knows me well knows my obsession with brown paper objects.

This is the slight bruising on the side of my left cheek (green tinge from mouth height to my jaw). Doesn't seem as prominent in the photo as it does in real life.

Bad Dreams, Results and Visible Jaw Bone

Oh god I am such an idiot.
Had a bad dream this morning, right before I woke up.
You know what, upon reflection and as I recounted this dream to Daniel, I was crying because it felt so real but laughing so much (and thus hurting my gums/mouth) because it was so stupid. The more I described it the more stupid it sounded.
It's too ridiculous to describe in detail plus as each hour passes I remember less and less about it but basically it involved jägerbombs, creepy bathrooms and Daniel writing an indirect hate letter about me. I know...I cry over this? Truth be told, I've had much much much worse dreams yet this one made me more upset than most.

Today all the results for semester two were released. I'm pretty pleased, didn't do much better or worse than expected. I did, however, receive the highest mark in what I was certain would be my worst subject (dejavu of last semester). Overall I did better this semester which I'm happy about :D Hopefully this is continues as I know the start of uni was pretty rough, I had no idea what I was doing.

And finally, I either have a infection on the lower right side of my jaw/gum or a dry socket/hollow cavity or both. But from what I hear, severe pain follows a dry socket yet I only have mild-moderate pain depending on what I'm doing. I swear I can see to my jaw bone which is hella freaky, yet I am so tempted to touch the gap haha.

I still crave cake,

Keeping Myself Occupied

Angel's 18th last friday night.
We had pres at Crown Metropol and then went to Fashion Lounge. I drank next to nothing due to cramps from hell. Sucks to be a girl sometimes.

Decided to go with blingy gold nails to match. I'm not content with the shape of my nails in the photo but I cut them after I took the above mani off so I think they're looking more neat now.

By the end of this week I'll post up, my most recent nails of the week, beauty and clothing purchases.
Oh how the collection has built up recently, and I"m not going to lie, it's still growing.
But I can't help but fall victim to sales, especially online ones. Just doing my asian stereotype justice.

The number of eyeliners, be it liquid, gel, cream or pencil, that I've bought within the past half year is ridiculous. And so far I've still haven't found my HG. Even the coveted MAC's fluidline didn't work out for me. My eyelids are that greasy, fml.

I'm waiting on 2 more to arrive then I'll do a review on everything I've tried.

Post Op

I had my wisdom teeth removed on Monday morning, all three of them. I did have slight fears for the anaesthetic but when it came to being actually wheeled into the theatre I was completely calm. One moment the anaesthetist was asking about my uni course and the next moment I was awake with half a numb face and 2 ice packs strapped onto my cheeks. And I roused really suddenly, I was only drowsy for a second then I snapped into full consciousness. And then proceeded to ravenously devour a red icy pole.

Too tired to type any more, but basically I woke up this morning, the numbness was gone and a slightly sore pain has settled in, but one that I only really feel if I'm trying to eat or speak.

Oh and I am unable to sleep in?! I woke up at 8.30am and couldn't get back to sleep..even though I fell asleep at 2am the night before..and this is after taking 2 painkillers at midnight in an attempt to prep me for sleep.
I really wish the painkillers would make me drowsy.

Generally today and yesterday were incredibly boring days, since I'm neither in great pain nor am I able to sleep throughout the day. I spend my time in a zombie mode, grunting and hmming for communication while painting my nails and eating congee.

In the midst of it all, I miss Daniel :(

Love Lisa.

PS. I might post some puffy face pictures but they really are terrible because I already have a huge face to begin with.

Dance with the devil

Nooooooooo

The moment I saw it, I got a little chill and I had to write a new post asap.
Yes I am superstitious when it comes to numbers. Lucky for me 7 comes after 6.

Just some thoughts, people who post statuses on fb purely for attention..I feel sorry for you. Also 'they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I say this is some grade A bullshit.'

Oh and the new sneaky hat craze, yeah, sorry no respect for those little kids. And people who upload the pictures of their friends. I mean I've seen similarish on peoples private albums. But uploading it to a public page..that's so different. One day you will look back and realise that undoubtedly paedophiles were enjoying your photos. That is all.

Sweet Doctor

So I look a little bit like an alien but I don't have any photos with my hair down. I'm starting to use my colours in my makeup, the below was using a blue and a dark navy colour. I know the photo is washed out ut it was so dark originally you could see nada.
I only did one eye because the other was hurting incredibly for about 4 days straight :\ It was the most irritating pain, like as if liquid liner was leaking into my eye, even though I had zero makeup on.

I saw my long lost friend Miss Sylvia on Wednesday night, and had a lovely dinner and drinks with her. Even though I barely see her these days I can still talk to her about anything. I am going to miss this girl when she goes to the UK!

Another Chadstone a few days ago. This time we did actually buy from the Sweet Dr. because last time we only bought from the Nutshack :P Second picture is him discussing with the lady who runs the stall about which flavour of sour balls was the best :3
Oh my lord, the sour raspberry candies that Daniel picked are sour. Way more sour than anything I've tasted.Which I really underestimated because Daniel's face did not change at all when he ate one, while oh I can tell you my face puckered up like you wouldn't believe.

And for me, I chose some giant sour coke bottles hehe.

Showing defiance by not sleeping

Must be a surefire way of proclaiming to the world that I something something..the shit am I talking about?! Should not blog this late, my mind is hazy and the moment my fingers touch the keyboard, they have a life of their own.

My day today:

Celebrated out monthary with a visit to Chaddy. And ohhh my lord, the asian man running the Nut Shack stall made me laugh. Daniel wanted some Hot Chilli Soya Crisps, and after he pointed to it, the guy was like 'oh these are very hot' and I thought he was implying that I couldn't handle it. I assured him that I like spicy food (to an extent), but then he quickly said nono, and motioned towards my dear boothang. And I was like him?! No he likes spicy way more than me, and to say that the man was shocked is an understatement. Ahahaha oh the racial stereotypes.

And of course we went to visit Pets Paradise puppies. Yes, I am adamant about never buying puppies/kittens from such pet stores but it would be a lie for me to say that they're not so ridiculously cute that all I can do is 'awww' as I watch them twitch in their slumbers.

SWOTVAC and this exam period has been one of the most confusing times in my life. It was utter chaos for me, battling with my guilt for having so much fun. :P But I don't regret any of it, wee ow. *fingers crossed* that my results are decent. Here are some pictures off my phone that I've taken over the last week or so.

Packaging 'peanuts' in the shape of 3s! I thought it was pretty cool.

Daniel cracked all my glow sticks that I have been saving FOR YEARS I TELL YOU D; Okay yes I let him do it, since I'd probably not crack them for the next 10 years or something ridiculous. I am a self confessed hoarder after all.

Freebies from my dental surgeons office hehe

Tien Dat with Michael

People savaged the bread aisle!

Daniel savaged my Hersey Kisses :3

I was in love with gold nail polish for a good 2 weeks.

Yeah check my sweet freehand drawing skills, ahaha oh I kid, my shaky uncertain lines. I'm not used to not sketching everything I draw.

One of the most perfect top knots I've ever done, too bad this is what I did to sleep in. (that's a toothbrush sticking out by the way)

That's all for now, goodnight readers!
