Breathe, let it go, breathe.
Trying so desperately hard to not let everything overwhelm me right now.
But the cherry on top was that I woke up this morning with a sore throat.
I panicked, then consoled myself that it might go away during the day.
Wrong, I was so wrong, it is so much worse and now I feel all the signs of a full blown sickness about to unleash itself on me.
Why? Why me, why again.
The latter half of last week was the first time I felt like I was almost fully recovered from my previous illness.

Not As They Seem
I just had a recollection of a friend in undergrad telling me she met a girl from my school that was a couple of years younger than me. She said that this girl considered me to be her idol (or something along those lines) and really looked up to me. I was lost for words. My whole life I have looked at those around me and older than me and I wonder if I'll ever be as confident, beautiful and successful as them. To think that someone thought the same of me was mind blowing. I do admit my self-esteem is far from high so I've never even entertained the possibility that someone might think of me in such a way.
Firstly, it goes to show looks are deceiving, as my life is far from perfect but to some, it must seem otherwise superficially. Therefore, by the same token the lives of those who I've aspired to emulate are unlikely to be picture perfect in reality. Secondly, either I must be content with what I have and where I am, or to take initiative to achieve something better. I should not look at others with envy but instead let them spur me into action.
I'm not sure if I'm making sense anymore.

Leaps and Bounds
First and foremost, our 5 year anniversary was last week!
*insert sappy long paragraph*
^As only one person needs to read my sappy corndog words, not the rest of the world ;)
Oh how time flies, can you believe though we met when we were both 17! I look at 17 year olds now and they look like babies.
We had lunch at Cumulus Inc., which was diviiiine. Honestly I have not ever experienced much 'fine' food in my life, and boy have I been missing out! The wagyu rump cup was the most tender, juicy and delicious piece of meat my taste buds have come across. And the dessert was to die for, when I read chocolate brownie on the menu I just expected your stock standard brownie, but no this was something else altogether..and it was beautiful.

I need to step up my studying. First semester first year I did great, second semester first year was a slight struggle but still not bad. Last semester was hard and I overestimated my own ability and got the worst marks I have in my entire life.
That shouldn't be too surprising when post grad is much harder than anything else I've been through and it's only getting progressively harder. Still I'm disappointed in myself, and the past week I've really wanted to get on top of work but I've been sick. Yes, for those who have been following me for a while, I am sick, yet again. This time though, I know exactly who I caught this sore throat from =_=
Study time!

Second Week Back
The mid year break came and went in a blink of an eye.
A couple of memorable things that happened, Daniel & I went back to Chesterfield Farm. I had a lamb nibble at my chin, which was actually very cute and a goat chew on my hair. They also have kangaroos now, pretty sure they weren't there last year!
Last week we went to Sakura Lounge, a Japanese spa in the CBD. I loved the tatami rooms and it really was so relaxing that I fell asleep. I was sure that I didn't sleep for more than 10min but who knows, at least I didn't snore.
Climbed the 1000 steps with Sophie and Mel, I think I did better this time. It was still very tiring and required numerous rests along the way but overall I never got to a point where I felt like my lungs were going to fall out.
So yes, class started last Monday and the 8ams are killing me. Mainly because I have some insane inability to sleep before midnight. So the sleep deprivation builds to a crescendo by Friday. Also I feel terribly behind and I don't even know how to catch up, I listen to all the lectures, take notes, yet I feel like my knowledge is so lacking. Every time I get asked a question in prac classes I feel like an idiot.
This semester we have a removable prosthodontics patient, which involves making dentures. And for those that who have been lucky enough to have not sat through many many MANY lectures on how to make dentures, let me tell you, the process is long and tedious.
Not to toot my horn (haha), I am fairly good at picking up the practical side of dentistry, it comes to me much more naturally than learning actual knowledge. But I am always unsure of myself, and a bit of a perfectionist, which leads to things taking twice as long for me compared to everyone else. And as there's only limited time to complete set tasks I am always rushing in the last minute or I just don't finish at all.
The dental school is also ridiculously disorganised, some genius decided to fire half the staff at the end of last year, both admin and teaching. Plus, the IT staff are still on holidays at the moment...so this whole year has been very messy.
On more exciting news, Jess & I are leaving for Cairns this Friday to attend a dental convention. It's mostly lectures during the day, and social events in the evening. The convention actually started today, as all other dental schools are still on holidays. So we can only go for the weekend >_> but I hope we can squeeze in something exciting on the Sunday, like snorkelling or going bungee jumping. Actually, saying that I reallllyy want to go bungee jumping!
Okay, back to study it is.

Always When I Can't
Why is it during the exam period when suddenly the old urge to go out and photograph returns. Yet when I am actually free, I while away the hours doing nothing productive at all.
One exam down, four to go.

It Was About Time
Over the past month or so I've seen everyone around be struck down with the common cold. And I skipped merrily along, unscathed.
I equated my lack of falling ill with my more 'regular' exercising this year. Perhaps that did play a part. But the stress of exams and lack of sleep has finally gotten the better of my immune system.
So here I am, not 2 days before my first exam and I feel like I just want to curl up in bed and never leave. Now I wish I fell ill earlier, rather than at the most crucial time of the semester...but as fate would have it, here I am.

How Now
How is it swotvac again?
How has another semester passed?
To be honest I do feel a sense of impeding doom, and its not over exams.
I know it's very, very premature but I'm already stressed about next semester.
Everyone keeps saying how it only gets worse from here (until 4th year), really puts a spring in your step doesn't it?
I finally received my loupes a few weeks ago and they have been an immense help. If you don't know what they are here's a photo for reference.
Also the kiosk I was working at closed down early this month :'( and that really did make me feel so down. Silly, I know, and I was only there for half a year but I had finally settled in and felt like I had figured the place out. Only to be thrown into a new store without warning. See we were able to give 2 preferences, yet I was put in a completely different store.
Don't get me wrong, the people at the new location are lovely, but it's a bit out of the way for me and in an area I have rarely visited in the past. So I'm feeling like a complete outsider at the moment. I know I should just give it time and I'll probably feel differently.
Anywhooo, I'm beyond sleepy. Goodnight.
