Sometimes I get so sick of seeing idiotic posts on the internet.
Truly, people are so close minded and ready to accept whatever bullshit is fed to them.
But you know what there's no point in arguing with the dimwitted because you'll never get through to them, better to ignore their ignorance. Look, sometimes I do get offended and what not but why waste my breath. I lament the energy I have ever used to try to explain a concept to someone who cannot understand the meaning of logic.
I used to think I was non-confrontational but I think I am coming to a realisation that I would just rather spend my time doing something productive. Water under the bridge not because I'm afraid, but because I'd rather be happy.
Meh, study has me brain fried.

Helix Piercing
Hm I don't think I ever actually posted about the fact I finally got my helix pierced, after literally 5 years of umm-ing and ah-ing about it.
You know what, there's so many things in life that I haven't done because I've thought too much about it, I've obsessed about the potential things that can go wrong and the fear of failure.
I think this year I made a positive change in my life, I successfully held a job while studying, I went to a dental convention in a different state knowing only a few people, I got my helix pierced, did well in an oral exam (one of my biggest fears), ran the 10km melb marathon and got a position on the dental student's society for next year. Oh and I'm going on a dental outreach in Nepal next year, something I would never have had the confidence to do in the past.
I don't know why I've always had a fear of being known, in the past I just wanted to be unnoticed and to not draw any attention to myself. Not that I'm acting overtly outgoing these days. But I do believe I've come out of my shell.
I can't quite explain it, but I just feel so much better about myself than a year ago.
Guess I'm a late bloomer, always have been.

You're My Only Hope
Okay I love Star Wars. Let's be honest, it is one of the greatest sagas known to man.
I'm going to estimate I was around the age of 9 when I was first introduced to the series and binge watched the first four movies. My mind had officially been blown by the storyline, the jedis and the idea of the force.
Attack of the Clones was the first one I watched in the cinema and I can still remember I was so excited I had chills. On the car ride home I said without even realising 'tired, I am'. Seriously, I was in deep. One of the best dreams to date is the one where I had the force, when I woke up I felt like crying because I wanted it to be so badly.
Anyway, so I've probably lost the majority of my readers because I personally, don't know of any girls that like the series. This also blows my mind, why is sci-fi shunned by so many girls?! Forget sci-fi, so many girls don't even like action films...
Hang on, time for me to go on a little spiel/rant. Now that I think about it, again clearly it is conditioning and adhering to 'societal norms' that is the root of the problem. Girls aren't given toy storm troopers, instead they have their Barbies and what not. Geez, I'm so glad I grew up with an older brother because alls I know is Star Wars, action films and watching Counter Strike** were far more interesting that brushing a doll's hair.
Well the main reason for the post is for me to express how ridiculously excited I am for Episode VII. Watching the most recent trailer brought back so many memories it literally took my breath away.
I think I'm all geeked out for now. Let me just assimilate back into the what society expects me to be, a girl who only talks about makeup and clothes.
Love Lisa.
**I actually preferred watching Day of Defeat the most, I'm not sure why. Also I always felt Axis > Allies. Hm, how very politically incorrect of me.

Fragile Mortality
Well studying has taken a turn.
I was studying special needs dentistry and the more I delve into the specifics the more hollow I feel. This why I knew I could never do med, my emotions run amuck at the slightest thing, what I fool I was thinking I could escape this in dent.

I Can't Even
Look, I'm am all not for racism, sexism and all forms of discrimination but some people are taking completely normal questions and turning it into some sort of insult in their mind.
If someone asks me where my parents are from, or what my background is, how is this racism or offensive in any way? As I look Asian, there is a high chance my parents immigrated here from another country. However, when people talk to me for a length then proceed to ask me where I am from, this can get on my nerves a little. It's more polite to ask what my background is. Semantics, I know. But always better to err on the side of caution.
On the flip side, if people are saying ching chong and nihao to me, then yes I do classify this as racism. Even the people who are saying ni hao in a genuinely nice way, they are so so misguided in the assumption that 1. I can't speak English, 2. I'm Chinese.
But you are Chinese, you might say. Well, yes sure I am (let's not get too technical here). But I never assume someone wasn't born and raised Australian just because they don't appear to be Anglo saxon.
You know, use your brains people, please. And I refer to both sides when I say this.
/end rant

10km Achievement Unlocked
Holy, soo the 5.7km race filled out by the time I could go and switch.
I thought I was doomed that I had to run 10km..I had not prepared for this at all.
First thing, the road closures made it bloody difficult to figure out how to get to MCG Gate 1 where the baggage drop off was..even more so since I have nooo sense of direction.
So I saw people with the same bibs as me near Hisense Arena, and decided to follow them as they had bags and looked like they knew what they were doing. Next thing I know I'm watching the Marathon runners start their race and I'm no where near the MCG yet.
After a confused daze I managed to find my way there. Eventually met up with Wendy and we were making our way to the start line.
My plan of attack was just to go at a very slow jog and go for as long as I could.
I guessed I could do 6-7km.
Next thing you know I'm at the 5km mark and I'm not even the slightest bit tired. How this was possible, I still don't know. Around 7km my right ankle was aching, I had a blister on my left foot that I was making me run with a slight limp but still, I didn't feel too tired. It was incredible.
The last kilometre was the most difficult, I was so close but so far. When we entered the MCG I took started running fairly fast as I thought I saw the finish line, I passed what I thought was the finish line and started slowing to a walk. then I look at the other side of the MCG and realise I'm hundred of metres off the actual finish line. Now at this point I was breathing hard as I had now used up 90% of my energy. Managed to make it to the real finish line at a decently paced run but by the end of it I was seeing stars.
Official finishing time of 1 hour 18 minutes. I know this is quite slow in the whole scheme of things but prior to this I had never run more than 5km in my entire life. So all in all, I'm very proud of myself for running the entire 10km.

Tail End
'Ello ol' friends.
I had many things to rant about but for now I'll give a short summary of the past few months.
The 'Spring' weather in Melbourne has been insane, but is anyone surprised, no not really.
There have been days as cold as winter, days over 30 degrees celsius and more recently thunderstorms and pouring rain. Gotta love this city.
So I'm reaching the end of the year and I'm teetering on the edge of panic. We have 2 weeks of classes left. But the final week has 3 exams. So pretty much I have exams in exactly 1 week. The first two are endo and fixed pros, both are mainly practical, plus a written component. So the practical component is what I'm most worried about, but there's only 1 practice session left tomorrow and Tuesday eeeee.
Then the big written exams are looming at the start of November. We have yet again a terrible exam timetable. 3 exams in 3 days, the first two are on the same day..an hour apart...and both are worth 60%...It's like they want us to do badly.
Also our timetable has been insane the past few weeks, almost every day has been 8am start and 5pm finish. Needless to say I've been flat out exhausted.
In other news, I was meant to run the 10km Melb Marathon next sunday. I aimed much much too high. So I'm going to switch to the 5.7km, but even then I'll most likely (definitely) struggle. So far I've only run about 3.5km without much pain, and I'm hoping I can run at least another 1km, and worse comes to worst, walk the rest. I'm setting low expectations for myself now.
That's all for tonight.
